Fight Club Update
May 12, 2008 – 10:42 amWell I’m still not in a mind set to post on the blog. It’s taken a lot longer to get use to posting on a normal bases then I thought. I’m so use to posting site related news on the forums that I’ve slipped a few times as you can tell. Besides the latests new on Goku movie picture, I’ve done a number of changes to the site you will notice.
First I change the home page a bit, this is the first of many changes to it. I mainly want to take it away from the “classic” anime site home page look, that is listing news like it does. I’m thinking maybe a unorder list style showing the headlines like lot of movie sites do, and showing other useful info like latest forum discussions, latests blogs news and maybe gallery or video updates. I did this once before long time ago and didn’t think it worked, so maybe some feedback on this could help out.
Fight Club is here people, yeah I know its only May but its set to start in July which is 2 months away give or take. I haven’t gotten any submissions yet. Not shocked about it being how the contact forms was a message. I’ve been using an old CGI perl script for years (as it worked) but as of late it hasn’t, plus the spam bots finally hitting the shit out of it filling my box up. The new script I added using captcha so that should stop that.
Currently this will be the last Fight Club for a while. I have a few reasons why, one of them is yes I kind of don’t want to deal with it next year. Personally I think I’ve messed it up in terms of quality, letting videos in that shouldn’t have gotten or wouldn’t have under Majin Trunks. That is my fault and just shows that I don’t know the difference between a good and bad AMV. The other reason and this is the big one is I don’t think anyone cares anymore.
To many the contest as become stale in terms that most AMV editors aren’t that good or just follow a set pattern, that’s not to say they’re are some really good ones out there. but 7 out of 10 times I see an AMV its nothing special when compared to the last one I watched. I know lot editors go to cons now or would rather do events on the ORG being that that’s the center of the AMV community online. Lot of them think of the site as a silly DBZ site that run silly DBZ AMV contests, even when no one in the last few (2006 and 2007) even enter a DBZ video fully (some had clips of DBZ but nothing full on). But that’s okay because the goal is to make Fight Club special again by making you all miss it. Well that’s the plan anyways.
Keep an eye out for new stuff on the site. If your not sure whats been updated check the What’s new page as it will tell you what’s been updated.
