How to make Dashed Lines

In this tutorial I will show you how to make dashed lines (- - - -). It’s very simple to do.

Step 1. Create a new Document 10 pixels wide and 1 pixel tall (or you can make it wider/thunner if you perfer).
*Tip: A good way to see what your doing at this point to zoom in to 1600%

Step 2. Choose a color you would like to use, in this tutorial I’m going to use black. This will be the color of your dashes.

Step 3. Fill the window with the choosen color in step 2. You can either use File->Fill or selet the paint bucket and left click in the window to fill it. It should look like this.

Step 4. Now select the select tool. Take it and draw a box around but leave one block on the right (1 pixel) and one on the left. Now got to the Select->Invert. Now on your keyboard hit the Delete key, what you should have on your screen now is this.

Step 5. Now go to Select->All.

Step 6. Now go to Edit->Define Pattern. Enter Dash Line in the box.

Step 7. Create a new Document and set it to 100 pixels wide and 1 pixel tall.

Step 8. Now zoom in to about 500%, then go to Edit->Fill.

Step 9. Choose Pattern inside the Fill window. Now select the Dash Lines you set up in Step 6. Click ok. You should now have your dashed lines.
