Interview with Prince Majin Trunks

November 2, 2007 – 3:08 pm

Hello, today we took the time to interview former webmaster of Majin Planet and Anime Music Video Editor, Prince Majin Trunks in this weeks Road to the Fight Club feature. The following interview is uncut, it has not been edited.

Neckar Unrivaled: What was your first music video?
Prince Majin Trunks: My first music video was actualy a very crappy video I maid when I first got Adobe Premiere (a trail version downloaded off of Sayan Thunder, Corrupted Avatars old website.) It was to a Rob Zombie song and was about Goku and Vegetas first battle. I had JUST mastered the razor tool lol. Just a few straight cuts, barly any timing, no transitions. Absolutly terrible.
The video was quickly sent to the trash ben and never maid its way online.

NU: When you decided to make your first video did you think you come as far as you have?
PMT: Honestly know I didn’t. When I first started making them I wasn’t realy concerned with being all that good to be honest with you. I had been a fan of DBZ Warriors and Majin Planet for a while and just wanted to do what they do because I loved music videos. Back then pretty much the only things I did online were work on my website/rpg and download music videos.

NU: What was your worst music video you’ve every made and released?
PMT: Ah geez the list has got to go on and on with that one. Theres been so many horrible videos that its hard to choose. Probably the worst one though was a Freiza one I put together. I dont remember what song I used but I do remember its the only “Tribute to Freiza” video I had ever mad. What maid it so horrible was not the editing or effects or anything as they were equaly as horrible as all the other videos I had released that early on… No what maid it horrible is the fact that I wanted to make my own clips because I couldn’t download them off the internet at that time. All i had at my disposal was… a webcam. So I strategicly stationed my webcam infront of the TV and recorderd a lot of various parts of Freiza episodes with the webcam. The quality was absolutly horrible. Shortly there after I managed to save up the money I needed for a video capture card.

NU: Have you ever thought about becoming a professional editor?
PMT: Many times. One of the things I would love to do is become one of the post-production editors for the WWE. I love wrestling and I love video editing so it works together nicely. I plan on starting classes at the Art Institute of Tampa for Post Production just as soon as I’m financialy secure enough in doing so. Also one of my long time freinds, 007 Vegita of DBZSC.com works as a professional editor and has been for quite some time. Listening to him talk about it is actualy what opened up the door on video editing as a possible career choise in the first place.

NU: What was it like taking over and running your first Fight Club?
PMT: At the time I had run my first Fight Club I was actualy suppose to be nothing more then a “music video reviewer” and “website maintance” guy on Majin Planet. I had only gotten Corrupted Avatar to move the site to my server and helped him update the site design. Problem was Corrupted Avatar was still the webmaster. However he was to busy to do anything and I noticed nothing was going on with the site so I had asked if I could run a fight club. In turn he gave me the site. Go figure. Anyways my first fight club was a very exciting but also a bit stressful. At first no one good had joined up so I got nervous we wouldn’t get any good entries. So I started spreading the word and talking to people. The Fight Club ended up to be an awsome one though. We had some return competitors like Breeman, Trunksoul and Podge. Then we had LittleDrumBoy’s AMV return with a brand new music video (littledrumboy had been one of the longest running King of the Hill Champions.) Aswell as some awsome new editors like Icbal. I belive in the finals it was Podge vs Icbal and Podge won. That was a great moment as now Podge is forever featured on Majin Planet. The reason why I say thats great is because Podge was a living part of not only Majin Planet but also Trunks Hope (my previous site.) Podge had been a part of the Majin Planet forums and kept them alive long before I got there, and also he was one of the music video editors on my team at Trunks Hope. This guy was the heart behind Majin Planet for a long time so seeing him as a permanent part of Majin Planet was deffinitly a great thing.
So generaly my first Fight Club was great. I became webmaster of my favorite website and the site that got me into webmastering and video editing, I got to see an awsome fight club full of great editors, and I got to see a freind become part of history.

NU: On that same note, what was it like running your last and will you ever come back to run another one?
PMT: Running my last one was sort of bittersweet. It was my last one so I wanted it to be good; as you know I went into this knowing it would be my last one as me and you had discussed. At the same time though knowing it was my last fight club ment officialy that was my last Majin Planet run. Sure I had Majin Planet Generations but we both knew that site was only temporary. So with that Fight Club went Prince Majin Trunks and my place in Majin Planet. I had the same problems I always had having to find people to join up. It always is a problem because the hole “if you build it they will come” concept dosn’t apply to Majin Planet. But generaly we had a pretty good turn out, a great contest, and couldn’t of asked for a better video to win in my last Fight Club. I deffinitly wouldn’t of wanted my last Fight Club to have had a horrible video be the champion.
On that note though we have had some amazing Fight Club champions in my time. Podge, Bote (twice), Master Gohan, and Turunkusu - all with great videos.
Couldn’t of asked for better champions.
As for if I would ever come back to run another one…
that depends on a lot of things. Timing is a big one. If I had the time to run it properly, if it was at a time where people will starting to come out with videos again. However, if I was asked to run another Fight Club, I deffinitly think you would see me do it.

NU: Do you plan on entering the 2008 Fight Club?
PMT: That also depends on timing. If I have the time to put together a video then yes. I dont want to enter into the Fight Club a video I maid months before. But if by chance I come out with a new video at Fight Club then I would deffinitly enter it.

NU: What did you think of the two Fight Clubs in 2007?
PMT: Lack of talent. I saw some videos get in, and know offence to the editors, that should of never gotten in. Lack of exposer is a big deal with that. People outside of the Majin Planet circle have to find out about it if you hope to get some good entries. I deffinitly felt the second Fight Club of 2007 was better then the first of 2007 however.
Also, as far as the editors that I belive shouldn’t of gotten in.
If they had entered, been rejected, and then seen round after round of amazing videos… they would of seen what it was that Majin Planet was looking for.
In turn they would of gotten a better idea of where they needed to be and have been able to see what they need to shoot for.
Hopefuly they would of taken that positivly and worked to get better, and by next Fight Club hopefuly be good enough to get themselfs in. Thus giving us a better competition, a better talent pool of editors in the Majin Planet circle, and given another generation of video editors a look at where they need to be. Keeping the circle going so to speak.

NU: Which Fight Club would you say was the best you have ever seen/been apart of?
PMT: The BEST one I have ever seen was deffinitly the third fight club (and Corrupted Avatars first on Majin Planet.) It was like the superbowl of Fight Clubs. The best of the best. Majin Mebs, Neo Gohan, DannyPoo, DBZMaji(past champion), HotIceHilda/Z? (multi-time Fight Club participant) and a few more. Aswell as the first ever Honorable Mention in a Fight Club, AND a tag out (where after the contest started one video was dropped and replaced with another all together.) So basicly instead of 8 we had 10 videos - most of them being from big names. Imagin this - the final round - Danny Poo vs Neo Gohan. Both with (at the time) all new Music Videos.
However the best one I personaly have been apart of I would have to say was the 4th fight club witch was my first Fight Club. A lot of returning editors with a great videos. For me it was very exciting.

NU: Are you working on any new projects and what can you tell me about them?
PMT: Im working on getting together content for Wrestling Society, my new wrestling website. Basic information and media of course but I also want to make some good music videos for the site and imply some interactive features. Sad to say its going to be a good MANY months before the site goes from being “Under Construction” to “Fully Operational.” In the mean time just check out the forums.
Also I’m working on a blog called “The Adventures of Glennith and Grim” witch will be a blog bassed around a game I play called Maple Story. Generaly Ill just be posting up what Id done in the game aswell as making a funny side-comic about Glennith (my character) and Grim (my pet in the game - a Jr. Grim Reaper)
As far as videos go I’m working currently on my first music video for Wrestling Society, a tribute to Chris Benoit.
I was going to make a anime one for Halloween using a new Korn song, and I still might .But I’m undecided on that so don’t get your hopes up.
NU: cutting that one super close

NU: Do you have anything to say you your fans who might be reading this?
PMT: Well, if I still have any fans out there. Keep on visiting Majin Planet, I’m glad your still around, and check out Wrestling Society and my new blog once they are up and going. Thank you for your support over the years.

NU: Thank you for taking the time to chat with us and we look forward to your future projects.

PMT: No problem. Oh and by the way, see you at Fight Club!
