Interview with Master Gohan
October 26, 2007 – 3:06 pmHello, today we took the time to interview Anime Music Video Editor, Master Gohan in this weeks Road to the Fight Club feature. The following interview is uncut, it has not been edited.
Neckar Unrivaled: What was your first music video?
Master Gohan: my Kid Buu video
NU: When you decided to make your first video did you think you come as far as you have?
MG: Not really. I was really only making them so me and my friends could watch them. It was over a year later that I got them online.
NU: What was your worst music video you’ve every made and released?
MG: Well my worst one was never realeased, thankfully. But the worst one I’ve released, in my opinoin, would be my original Broly Tribute. It didn’t come together well at all.
NU: Have you ever thought about becoming a professional editor?
MG: I have and I have some friends that are but I don’t think I have what it takes to be a professional. Its just a hobby for me.
NU: How many Fight Clubs have you enter in the past?
MG: I think I’ve only entered 3 but I could be wrong. I may have entered a few in my early days.
NU: What did it feel like to win your first Fight Club match up?
MG: Well I have to say, it was awesome. First, it was the legendary Fight Club of Majin Planet. Second, the final round was myself and 007 Vegita who was one of my favorite editors at the time. So it was doubly sweet.
NU: When you won the Fight Club, how did you feel about it?
MG: Like I had just climbed Everest. I had made it into and won the most exclusive AMV competition on the internet. What’s better than that?
NU: Very true.
NU: When you entered the Fight Club, what was your overall goals?
MG: Well obviously to win, but I also wanted to test myself against the best out there. I’d say I achieved both of those goals when I won. Not that I’ve been tested against all of the best, but only good videos get in so it was nothing but fun.
NU: Has there ever been a match up that you thought you would lose but end up winning?
MG: That championship round against 007 Vegita for one. He is a music video legend and I was pitted against him. He destroyed people on his way to the top. I was squeeking by. If I was to tank, it would have been there. But I didn’t. Who knew?
NU: On that same note, was there a match you thought you had in the bag only to lose at the end?
MG: I’m sure there have been. The one that comes to mind was also on MP, in Kingof the Hill. I thought I had Torankusu but he ended up taking me down. No big deal since hes a good friend of mine. Its no shame to lose to a good editor.
NU: Do you plan on entering the 2008 Fight Club?
MG: Definitely
NU: What did you think of the Jan 2007 Fight Club and the July 2007 Fight Club matches?
MG: They were horrible because I wasn’t in them! Just kidding. I don’t relly remember the January one, but the July one had some really good videos in it. I really enjoyed them.
NU: Jan fight club was the one Fuze won with “How to save a Life”
MG: Yes, i have that video on my computer. Excellent video.
NU: Which Fight Club would you say was the best you have ever seen/been apart of?
MG: I want to say the one I won just because of the editors that were involved, but the one that DannyPoo one was also amazing.
NU: Are you working on any new projects and what can you tell me about them?
MG: I am and anything you want to know. I have about a minute edited of my new video. I’m using Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal as the source footage and “What If I Stumble (Double Dutch Remix)” by dcTalk as the song.
NU: Do you have anything to say you your fans who might be reading this?
MG: Hopefully they’ll be looking at an increase in editing from me. I’m trying to find time to make many of the videos in my head so it could be a good year.
NU: Thank you for taking the time to do this interview, and we all look forward to your latest videos.
MG: Thanks for the opportunity
