How to make Glowing Gel

This tutorial will I’ll show you how to create a simple glowing gel effect in photoshop 7+.

Step 1. Open PhotoShop, Create New document, 500×500.

Step 2. Go to New layer, fill it with black (#000000).

Step 3. Filter > Render > Lens Flare. Use 100% Brightness, 50-300mm Zoom.

Step 4. Filter > Sketch > Chrome. Default settings.

Step 5. Filter > Distort > Polar Coordinates. Rectangular to Polar.

Step 6. Filter > Distort > Wave, default settings.

Step 7. Go to Ctrl + U, and mess around with the settings until you get a color you like best. Be sure to check colorize.

Step 8. Duplicate Layer, and set to “Lighten.”

Step 9. Go to Edit > Free Transform, and move it around.

Step 10. Repeat steps 8-9 a few times, until you get something you like.

Step 11. Then you may want to merge all layers and do another wave. You can also go to Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast and mess around with the contrast a bit. Experiment with it. If you make a mistake, be sure to use the history box to go back a few steps.

You can then repeat this until you get something you like. You can also add the following after your done to add to the effect.

Step 12. New Layer > Make sure its the top layer, fill with a any color, in my case I fill it with a dark yellow.

Step 13. Set the layer to “Overlay”.
