Project on Hold

May 7, 2008 – 4:08 pm

At the moment I’m putting the project on hold. I will still slowly work on it but it wont be something anyone will see any time soon. The reason for this is a new version of IPB will be coming on in the next year or two. And some of the new features look very cool and are something that would not only have on the forums but I think will make running the site. I have really added IPB into the system and almost could release this as a custom CMS for IPB, however that would be wrong of me and the amout of support I have to deal with is something I don’t want to “deal” with. So I’m going to keep it for Majin Planet only. This means that I will keep working on my systems and when IPB 3.0 comes out to where I can get it and test it, I can build a new Majin Planet around the new forum and system and also make a new skin and layout for the site and fully design it. This way I can simply switch it and we can go at it. For now that is a long time away and I’ll make updates about features I’m working on and the staus.

Iron Man Rocked!

May 2, 2008 – 10:44 am

I saw Iron Man last night. I have to say it was one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. I really loved it and the ending while not the biggest you could have for this type of movie (a comic book movie) but it sets up many elements and themes that will make the next two very good and if not better then the first. Something lot of comic book movies seem to miss out on are the elements that make the comics popular to start with. They got it right with Spiderman, they got it right with Batman Begins and they got it right with Iron Man. I hope that now Marvel has their own studio and able to make their comics into movies, that we’ll get more Marvel movies that are done the way they should be. I look even more forward to the Hulk and the up coming projects they have in mind.

Getting back to business

April 4, 2008 – 1:49 am

I haven’t done much with the project since I’ve moved. In fact I haven’t touched a line of code. I’ve kind of been taking it easy the last month or so. Now that I’m officially moved in my new place (has been for like a week now). In any even I’m going to be moving on along with the beta site the next week so it’ll be likely I wont have much time for messing around with stuff on the live site. My plan is to start messing with it Saturday and that’s only if I can get this coding job finished first (which is giving me major IE issues out of the blue).

Coding Nightmare - MySpace

April 1, 2008 – 12:06 pm

I got to thinking about something today, I spent a good part of the day redesigning the MySpace layout for Majin Planet. Now I have to tell you that I believe myself to be a damn good html coder and I have to tell you not only does coding the profiles for MySpace suck but its down right wrong. But as big as MySpace has become, as we not only now just have bands or normal people using it, but we have big timers like Movie profiles and even big bands jumping in on the action. Before you think of this as just another “Bash the hell out of MySpace” article, I want to point out something that I think for the most part no one has talk about, at least not in open forum. Anit-Leech, Do webmasters have a right?

March 30, 2008 – 11:25 am

Its a problem has had start a crazy of people to start using scripts called Anti-leech. So what is it? Anti-Leech is a script that stops hot links. Someone desided their going to link right to one of the images on your site. So what happens? Someone visit the leeching site and click to view the image. It could be a on page or in a gallery. When the image is called the anti-leech check to see if it was called from the site or from an out side source. If it was an outside source, it blocks the image from loading all together. Some even send the user to an error page saything this person is leeching their stuff. Read the rest of this entry »

Rise and Fall: XfireSystems Forever Part 2

March 29, 2008 – 11:11 am

Well I have to say that it’s been some time from the last article I posted here, I’ve had a lot on my mind, on top of the fact I haven’t been able to get to writing much. So here it is, I have to say this was the dark ages of XfireSystems, some would say what happen near the end of XfireSystems was really dark, but I’ve always thought to myself that if something had to end, end it right and this first so called “end” was not what I had in mind. Why This Article is too long Part 1

March 29, 2008 – 11:07 am

Before I start off this is a rant, and it’s a long rant. The areas I am covering is that of web design, back linking, Google’s control of the web, scams and how the internet in less then three years will no longer be free and most of what we do no on the web will no longer be allowed. How Wal-Mart rules the world now and more little stories of mine. I have a few lame jokes in this as well as some good points and options that I want to share. In the end, it comes down to one thing and that is we must be able to think for ourselves and not get sucked into silly scams and most of all just have some fun and not worry about whether or not your web site is worth the time of day. Shall we begin? Read the rest of this entry »

Ultimate Series: The New Majin Planet

March 29, 2008 – 10:46 am

This week in Ultimate Series, we’re going to take a look back at a time not to far off from Majin Plane’t time. In fact we’re first going to go back to the year 2005, a time when Majin Planet was gone and a new site was on the dawn, what site are we talking about here? Need a hint? Samurai Spirit, the new Majin Planet. Well it was sort of back in late 2004/2005. Read the rest of this entry »

No more Music Videos?

March 28, 2008 – 8:07 pm

Well its been a while since anything new in the music video deportment as of late. I can’t really comment on the status of any of our music video editors. In fact I know most of them are so busy with life now that most of them are likely one day to tell me they are moving on from making music videos. Majin Steve87 disappeared months ago and while he hasn’t really officially released anything under Majin Planet I don’t see him doing so any time soon.

Fuze every now and then drops by with a video but I haven’t seen or heard from him in ages. Our other two active editors appear in the same boat. Even the great DaCoolGohan who almost released a new video once a month in 2007 seems to have been over taken with life as well. I really don’t see filling the site up with new editors to cover for those who have no time or moved on. Nothing personal to those million plus editors out there, but no one has really done anything special in years. Most videos I’ve seen are the same old same old set up and while some are good they don’t really push the bar. This is the main reason I didn’t follow throw with my Music Video Search. Those who enter it (which was very few) are almost all busy now and couldn’t cover even if one of them won.

So with that said I think its save to say that the days of Majin Planet being known for Music Videos is at a close. We’ll still be known as it but I doubt anything new will come out and that is why I have shifted my focus to other things.

With that said I think I may start working on a new video, as well as release the ones I have done already (while I’ll fix them up). Simply not to cover but more because I want to. They wont be what you call good or even the next big thing. I’m not looking for that. Just something thats not what everyone else is doing. So stay tune to Majin Planet because you never know what may happen.

Ultimate Series: Legacy’s Past

March 28, 2008 – 2:15 pm

Majin Planet’s history is long and well got some great thngs about it. While lot of what went on, news, comments and posting is much lost and only remember by those who took part in it. We hope to bring the new generation of fans and supporters even closer to that legacy that is Majin Planet. Read the rest of this entry »
